DANG: Chetnarayan Acharya, newly appointed Chief Minister of Lumbini Province, expanded his cabinet today (Wednesday) by administering the oath of office to eight provincial MPs from Nepali Congress and CPN-UML.

Among those appointed by Chief Minister Acharya are Bhumishwar Dhakal, Dinesh Panthi, Badshah Kurmi, Dhanendra Karki, Saroj Thapa, Prachanda Bikram Neupane, Khem Bahadur Saru, and Sita Sharma as ministers without portfolios.

The inclusion of Badshah Kurmi, accused in the disappearance case of Nirmala Devi Kurmi from Banke, has sparked controversy.

Nirmala, missing since 2075 BS, was allegedly abducted and disappeared under suspicious circumstances.

According to the Ministry of Home Affairs, Kurmi’s involvement in the incident has been documented alongside others.

The report details an assault on Nirmala with the intent to seize property and the forceful seizure of her citizenship documents.
