Blacktopping being done Birtamod-Sanishchare road section

BIRTAMOD: In Jhapa, the six-kilometer stretch of the Birtamod-Sanishchare road is undergoing blacktopping, with an allocated budget of Rs 155 million.

According to Ujjwal Khatiwada, an engineer at the Damak Road Division Office, the initial phase has already blacktopped approximately one and a half kilometers from the bridge at Arjundhara-6, Mahanandachowk.

Khatiwada mentioned that the project is part of a multi-year plan and could be completed within three to four days, weather permitting.

The section from Tata Showroom in Birtamod to Mahananda Chowk will span 500 meters with a width of 15 meters, while the remaining stretch will be seven meters wide.

Previously delayed, locals had blocked the road for three months but expressed satisfaction with the commencement of construction.

Mayor Baldev Gomden Tamang of Arjundhara Municipality noted that the initiative, dubbed ‘Operation Election Strategic Road’, aims to alleviate local transportation challenges.

“The community has faced significant difficulties due to the road’s condition,” remarked Mayor Tamang, highlighting the collaborative effort among stakeholders to initiate the blacktopping project.

The construction contract, awarded at Rs 155 million, underscores the commitment to improving infrastructure in the region.
