COVID-19 variants ‘KP.1’ and ‘KP.2’ detected in Nepal

KATHMANDU: The COVID-19 variants KP.1 and KP.2 have been detected in Nepal.

These variants were previously identified in African nations, Singapore, and the United States of America (USA).

The National Public Health Laboratory detected these variants through gene sequencing of the latest 40 COVID-19 cases in Nepal. KP.1 and KP.2 were confirmed in 42 percent of these cases.
