PM Dahal urges Qatar’s support for release of Nepali student Bipin Joshi kidnapped by Hamas

Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal Prachanda has appealed to Qatar for the release of Nepali youth Bipin Joshi, who was kidnapped following the attack on Israel by the rebel group Hamas on October 7 last year. During the bilateral talks held in Kathmandu on Wednesday with the Emir (King) of Qatar, Sheikh Tamim Bin Hamad Al Thani, the Prime Minister urged serious initiatives to secure the release of individuals like Bipin.

Eight agreements reached between Nepal and Qatar

Nepal and Qatar solidified their bilateral relations by signing a series of eight agreements and Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) on Wednesday, during the state visit of Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani of Qatar.The agreements were reached following extensive bilateral talks between Emir Al Thani and Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal, with delegations from both nations present to witness the historic occasion. Concluding his two-day state visit to Nepal, Emir Al Thani departed for home this afternoon, leaving behind a strengthened foundation for cooperation and collaboration between the two countries.

SC Issues Show Cause Order in Gaur Massacre Case

The Supreme Court has issued a show-cause order in the Gaur massacre case. Justice Til Prasad Shrestha’s single bench issued the order on Wednesday in the name of the opposition.Previously, Tribhuvan Shah had filed a writ on the Gaur massacre case on June 4, 2023, naming the District Police Office Rautahat and the District Prosecutor’s Office Rautahat as defendants. On April 7, 2008, 27 CPN-Maoist activists were killed in a clash between the then Madhesi Janadhikar Forum and CPN-Maoist cadres.

By-election silence period comes into effect from tonight

The silence period of the by-election to the member of House of Representatives in Ilam-2 and the member of Sudurpaschim Province Assembly in Bajhang-1 (A) has come into effect from today.The b y-election is taking place in Ilam-2 and Bajhang-1, on April 27. The Election Code of Conduct, 2079, issued by the Election Commission, has made provision for the silence period from 48 hours before the voting day until the voting is closed in order to hold the election in a free, fair and fear-free manner.
