Police nab woman on child abduction allegation



KATHMANDU: Police announced today the apprehension of a woman who had abducted a newborn from Paropakar Maternity Hospital in Kathmandu on Friday.

The suspect, Man Kumari, 24, hailing from Naumule rural municipality-1 in Dailekh district and currently residing in Kadaghari, Kathmandu, was captured by a team from the Kathmandu Valley Crime Investigation Office in her rented room on the same night.

The rescued infant has been safely returned to its rightful family and is presently receiving medical attention at Kathmandu Medical College in Sinamangal, as reported by SP Nawaraj Adhikari of the District Police Range, Kathmandu.

SP Adhikari stated that further investigation into the case is underway. The incident came to light when Sabina Shrestha, 22, from Chauri Deurali rural municipality-3 and currently residing in Kapan, Kathmandu, filed a complaint regarding the disappearance of her 26-day-old infant.

Promptly responding to the complaint, the police conducted a search operation, leading to the discovery that the missing infant had been abducted by Man Kumari.

The authorities are actively pursuing the ongoing investigation to gather more details about the incident.
