Cabinet Decisions: Land acquisition approved for fast track project



KATHMANDU: The government has approved the acquisition of land in Makawanpur district for the Kathmandu-Tarai/Madhes Fast Track project.

At a cabinet meeting held on Thursday, permission was granted to acquire approximately 33,975 square feet of land for the project, according to government spokesperson and Minister for Communications and Information Technology, Prithvi Subba Gurung.

Additionally, Nepal Oil Corporation Limited has been authorized to acquire around five bighas of land in Jitpur Simara sub-metropolitan city.

The cabinet also granted prior permission to Lalitpur Metropolitan City to establish a sister-city relationship with Cheorwon-gun City in South Korea.

In a related decision, the government has lifted the ban on TikTok, with conditions. The ban will be lifted once the specified conditions are met, Minister Gurung added.

Furthermore, the cabinet has approved the creation of 16 temporary officer-level positions for the current fiscal year at the Advertisement Board and the Security Printing Centre.

The Vice-Chairperson of the National Planning Commission, Prof. Dr. Shiva Raj Adhikari, will participate in the “Multidimensional Poverty Peer Network” meeting in Uzbekistan from August 27-29.

The government has also approved the participation of Minister for Women, Children, and Senior Citizens, Nawal Kishor Sah Sudi, in the “First Global Ministerial Conference on Ending Violence Against Children” in Bogota, Colombia, from November 7-9.

Additionally, Minister for Forest and Environment, Ain Bahadur Shahi, has been approved to attend the “One Planet Network Forum, 2024” in Brazil on September 12-13.

Lastly, Dr. Khag Raj Sharma of Rupandehi has been appointed as the member-secretary of the National Cooperative Development Board, filling a previously vacant position.
