Bahadur Singh Lama appointed Chief Minister of Bagmati Province

KATHMANDU: Bahadur Singh Lama, the parliamentary party leader of the Nepali Congress (NC), has been appointed as the Chief Minister of Bagmati Province.

Province Chief Yadav Chandra Sharma appointed Lama on Tuesday.

Lama secured his position with the backing of 64 lawmakers from the Nepali Congress and the CPN-UML.

This appointment follows the resignation of Chief Minister Shalikram Jamakattel.

After Jamakattel’s resignation, Province Chief Sharma had invited parties to submit their claims for the Chief Minister’s position by 2 PM on Tuesday.

Lama and his Cabinet members are scheduled to be sworn in on Wednesday.

According to the agreement between the two parties, the Nepali Congress will lead seven ministries, while the CPN-UML will oversee six ministries in the province.
