Ministry seeks submissions for proposed Social Sites Act



KATHMANDU: The Ministry of Communications and Information Technology has invited submissions for the proposed Social Sites (Use and Regulations) Act, 2080 BS’.

According to the Ministry, the bill aims to discourage abuse of platforms of social sites, making their use decent, safe and systematic.

The primary goal of the Act includes making social platform operators and users responsible and accountable to society.

Moreover, it aims to promote social goodwill, cultural tolerance, and good governance.

The draft of the Act has a provision mandating any individual, company, or organization intending to operate the social site platform to get registered in the Social Sites Management Centre.

Submissions are accepted through the Ministry’s official website [email protected] until January 29.
