One killed in motorcycle collision in Baitadi



BAITADI: One person died and four others were injured in a motorcycle accident in Surnaya Rural Municipality-8 of Baitadi.

According to Suraj Singh, spokesperson at the District Police Office Baitadi, the accident occurred at around 1:30 pm on the Dholyamod–Purchaudi road section.

The deceased has been identified as 34-year-old Janak Luhar of Surnaya-8, who was riding one of the motorcycles involved in the collision.

Police said a motorcycle heading towards Purchaudi from Shribhavar, driven by 24-year-old Amir Kathayat of Purchaudi-5, collided head-on with another motorcycle coming from the opposite direction.

Four people were injured in the incident: driver Amir Kathayat, 39-year-old Hikmat Kunwar, 35-year-old Jaya Bahadur Chand of Sigas Rural Municipality-9, and 36-year-old Keshav Bahadur Chand.

Among them, Amir and Hikmat have been referred to Dadeldhura Hospital for further treatment. Police said Amir’s condition is moderate while the others are reported to be stable.

Authorities have confirmed that further investigation into the incident is underway.
