Woman arrested with Rs 300,000 in cash and marijuana in Jhapa



JHAPA: A 29-year-old woman has been arrested with four kilograms of marijuana in Buddhashanti Rural Municipality-3, Jhapa.

Local resident Durga Dhimal was apprehended by the police with the illegal drug and a substantial amount of cash, according to RSS.

According to Krishna Kumar Chand, Information Officer at the District Police Office, police from the Budhabare Area Police Office conducted a search of Dhimal’s house at 11:30 pm last night.

During the search, they recovered four kilograms of marijuana, Rs 306,870 in cash, and Rs 2,300 in Indian Rupees from her bedroom.

The police team had arrived at Dhimal’s home after receiving tips about drug trafficking activities.

Following her arrest, Dhimal was taken to the Dhulabari Area Police Office for further investigation.

In addition to the drugs and cash, police also seized several items from the scene, including scales for weighing marijuana, a lid, a lighter, packaging plastic, a knife, scissors, a crowbar, and a hammer.

In a separate operation on Saturday, five individuals were arrested on charges of drug trafficking in Jhapa.

The arrested suspects have been identified as Rupesh Pakhrin and Dik Bahadur Magar from Mechinagar-6; Rodan Limbu from Mangsebung-4, Ilam; and Navin Thatal from Damak-6.

Navin and Rodan were arrested in Damak while in possession of brown heroin and tramadol capsules. Rupesh and Dik Bahadur were arrested in Kakadbhitta, Mechinagar, with illegal drugs, according to Information Officer Chand.
