Tea worth Rs 114 million exported



JHAPA: The Nepal Multipurpose Cooperative (NMC) organization has exported Nepal’s tea worth Rs 114.3 million to India.

The cooperative organization made this money by exporting 364,044 kilograms of tea.

The business chief of the organization, Rabindra Pandey, said that the cooperative has emphasized on production of quality tea from its members, who are also farmers.

“We buy the tea leaves from the farmers and prepare the tea,” Pandey added.

The cooperative has run three tea processing factories in Suryodaya and Maijogmai in Ilam and Mechinagar in Jhapa.

The cooperative has affiliated 350 farmers and has invested more than Rs 130 million in the tea business.

Offering a direct job to 52 individuals, the organization has produced ‘Black Tea’, ‘Orthodox Tea’ and ‘Green Tea’ with NMC Brand.
