KATHMANDU: Leaders of the Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) gathered at the party’s central office following the arrest of former Deputy Inspector General (DIG) Chhabi Lal Joshi. Joshi, who was involved in the misappropriation of cooperative savings, was RSP Chair Rabi Lamichhane’s partner at Gorkha Media Network.

The meeting at the party office was prompted by the arrest of Joshi and reports suggesting that Lamichhane could be next.

A senior RSP leader told Khabarhub that key members of the party’s secretariat and central committee have been assembling at the office since noon to meet Lamichhane. He confirmed that the Lamichhane was present in the office when the leaders arrived.

While some leaders said they came in response to speculation of Lamichhane’s imminent arrest, others claimed they were at the office for routine party work.

One leader, responding to questions about Lamichhane, said, “We don’t know anything further. We’re here until 8 pm for party work.”

Meanwhile, 14 other senior RSP leaders, including Vice Chair Dr Swarnim Wagle, are currently in China.

Among those gathered at the party office are Treasurer Lima Adhikari, lawmakers Shishir Khanal, Manish Jha, Asim Shah, and Shiva Nepali, along with central committee members Dr Toshima Karki, Ganesh Parajuli, Basumaya Tamang, Nisha Mehta, Pukar Bam, Prakash Bista, Tapeshwar Yadav, and Khushbu Raja Shrestha.
