Two arrested for detonating IED

DANG: Two persons have been arrested as they tried to flee after detonating an Improvised Explosive Device (Sutali Bomb) at the Ghorahi-based Mahendra Multiple Campus this morning.

Spokesperson for the District Police Office, Deputy Superintendent Ram Prasad Timilsina said that one of the two persons who came on a motorcycle threw the IED and they were arrested when they were fleeing soon after.

“The Sutali Bomb went off with a loud bang,” he said. Those arrested for the offence include Abhiyan Thapa of Ghorahi Sub-Metropolitan City-15 and Sudan Karki, a student at the Campus. Both of the arrested have said that they set off the ‘fire-cracker’ just for fun, according to police.

DSP Timilsina said further investigation is on in this connection.

Among the two who came on a motorcycle, Thapa had hurled the IED on the road in front of the Campus, Timilsina said.
