Electric stoves distributed to 210 families in Lomanthang

MYAGDI: Electric stoves have been distributed to the residents of two wards of Lomanthang rural municipality in Mustang district.

Lomanthang rural municipality has distributed stoves to reduce the impacts of climate change by lowering the consumption of firewood and gas and to protect the environment.

According to Lomanthang rural municipality chair Tasinrbu Gurung, 210 families of ward 3, Puwa and ward 4, Kimling have been provided one electric stove each free of cost.

“We have tried to protect the environment by increasing the use of electric stoves as an alternative to firewood”, he said.

Chairperson Gurung and vice-chair Chhumi Bista along with other people’s representatives of the ward distributed the stoves on Wednesday.

Lomanthang rural municipality, which had allocated a budget of Rs 800,000 last year for the procurement of electric stoves, has made budget provision this year as well.

The electric stoves will be distributed to all the families of the remaining three wards according to the plan.
