PM Cup Cricket: Bagmati secures top spot with convincing 7-wicket win over Karnali



KATHMANDU: Bagmati province clinched its fourth victory in the Prime Minister Cup One-Day National Tournament, defeating Karnali province by 7 wickets on Monday and securing the top position.

In their chase, Bagmati achieved the target of 79 runs in 13 overs, losing 3 wickets. Ishan Paudel contributed 40 runs for Bagmati, while Rabin Joshi scored an unbeaten 16, Ashutosh Ghiraiya added 9, Captain Rit Gautam made 8, and Ashok Paudel remained unbeaten with 6 runs.

For Karnali, Diwan Pun took 3 wickets by giving away 29 runs in 6 overs. Prior to that, Karnali, having won the toss and elected to bat first, posted a total of 78 runs, losing all wickets in 24.2 overs.

Arjun Gharti, the wicketkeeper for Karnali, top-scored with 23 runs, including three fours and a six in 19 balls. Nischal Rawal was out for 13 runs. The remaining batsmen failed to contribute significantly to the score.

Bagmati’s young and fast-paced bowler Rijan Dhakal claimed 5 wickets by conceding 25 runs in 7 overs. Other bowlers like Krizan Gurung took 2 wickets, while Pratish G.C., Surya Tamang, and Bipin Acharya each took one wicket.

With this victory, Bagmati has ascended to the top of the table with 8 points from 6 games. Karnali, on the other hand, has secured 4 points from 5 games, placing them at the seventh position with a difference of 4 points.
