Two die in Dang accident



KATHMANDU: Two passengers lost their lives when a night bus traveling from Bardiya to Kathmandu met with an accident in Dang.

According to DSP Janak Bahadur Malla, the spokesperson for the Dang police, the incident occurred at 11 pm on Sunday in the forest area, 4 km west of Rihar police station in Lamhi municipality-9 of Dang.

The night bus, bearing the number Province 3-01005 Kha 9719, met with an accident.

Bhimnath Yogi and Yuvraj Chaudhary, whose address remains undisclosed, died on the spot, police said.

The incident unfolded when the bus struck the road barrier, resulting in the immediate death of the two individuals.

Two passengers, who died in the accident, attempted to jump to save their lives when the bus hit the road barrier in the forest area, police said.

It appears that they were crushed and succumbed on the spot, according to the police.

Preliminary investigations by the police suggest that the accident occurred due to the driver falling asleep.

The deceased passengers were taken to Lamahi Hospital in Dang for post-mortem.

The police have initiated a thorough investigation into the incident.
