Minister Yadav directs smooth distribution of Melamchi Water in Kathmandu

KATHMANDU: Minister for Water Supply, Pradip Yadav, has instructed daily field inspections to ensure Melamchi’s water reaches households across Kathmandu Valley.

The directive comes after reports of frequent pipeline bursts disrupting smooth water distribution in several areas.

Concerned by these issues, Minister Yadav directed all concerned departments to investigate why water is not reaching certain locations and to inspect whether residents are receiving an adequate supply.

During the directive, Minister Yadav emphasized, “Visit every ward and verify if Melamchi’s clean water is reaching households. Identify and resolve the issues through on-site monitoring to ensure uninterrupted distribution.”

He further instructed immediate repairs for burst pipelines and replacement with new pipes wherever needed to resume water distribution promptly.

Ashok Paudel, Chief Executive Officer of Kathmandu Upatyaka Khanepani Limited (KUKL), stated that Minister Yadav has urged distributing Melamchi water daily or at least every alternate day, considering its critical importance for residents. The minister has stressed ensuring a seamless water supply to address public needs.
