Bagmati CM Jamkattel seeking vote of confidence today

HETAUDA: Bagmati Province Chief Minister (CM) Shalikram Jamkattel is slated to undergo a vote of confidence from the provincial assembly today.

Chief Minister Jamkattel, currently in a minority position following the resignation of CPN-UML ministers, who withdrew their support, is seeking to reaffirm his leadership.

Jamkattel has successfully secured votes of confidence three times to maintain power.

However, this time it appears increasingly likely that he may not retain his position for the fourth time.

In response to the evolving political dynamics, the UML and Nepali Congress parties, poised to form a new government, have instructed their lawmakers to oppose Jamkattel’s vote of confidence.

They have also urged other parties to join them in voting against him.

The outcome of today’s vote will determine whether a new power equation government will take shape in Bagmati Province.
