Elderly woman dies in fire in Rukum West



TRIVENI: One person died in a fire that broke out in Bamfikot Rural Municipality-3 of Rukum West.

The victim, identified as 70-year-old Budi Kami, lost her life when the fire spread from the nearby Dharpakha community forest to Neupane village, engulfing three houses in flames.

The residences of Yubaraj BK, Annate Sarki, and Bhudi Kami in Nepal Tole were razed to the ground in the blaze, which occurred around 2:30 pm today.

Ward Chair Tilvir KC reported that 70-year-old Kami perished while attempting to salvage belongings from her home as the fire threatened to consume it.

Food supplies, clothing, and utensils inside the houses were all destroyed by the fire.

Originating from Dharpakha Community Forest, the fire has now extended to Bhirikhola Community Forest and Saikumari Community Forest.

Ward Chair KC mentioned that efforts to control the forest fire are underway by local forest user groups, the Bamfikot local police office, and residents.
