Jufal Airport reopens after 53-day closure for runway upgrade

DOLPA: Operations at Jufal Airport in Dolpa have resumed following a 53-day closure for runway upgrades.

The airport underwent temporary closure to facilitate the enhancement of its 185-meter-long runway, a project completed at a cost of Rs 60 million, inclusive of VAT, confirmed Bir Prasad Shahi, an engineer with the Civil Aviation Authority.

This morning, a Tara Air flight originating from Nepalgunj touched down at Jufal, signaling the restoration of services.

The previous state of the runway, in disrepair, had posed safety concerns for travelers.

Jufal Airport stands as the primary aviation hub in Dolpa of Karnali Province, serving as a vital lifeline for the region, which boasts the distinction of being the largest district in the country.
