KATHMANDU: The Ministry of Home Affairs has issued a set of 21 directives to the Chief District Officers (CDOs) across all 77 districts.

Home Minister Rabi Lamichhane has mandated active engagement in peacekeeping, security maintenance, efficient service delivery, fostering good governance, regulation, coordination, and facilitation.

According to a Home Ministry source, all CDOs are tasked with upholding peace and curbing criminal activities.

The CDOs have been asked to devise a three-month short-term action plan and execute it to eradicate illegal activities entirely within the district.

The Ministry has also instructed the CDOs to identify high-crime areas within districts, enhance security surveillance, conduct emergency checks, patrols, and conduct monitoring.

Moreover, it has also instructed to devise measures to regulate the ethical usage of social media and combat cybercrime.

The Home Ministry has also asked the concerned CDOs to assign dedicated personnel from District Police Office and District Administration Office for monitoring and penalizing individuals disseminating vulgar, unfounded, or divisive content via social media platforms.

Similarly, the Ministry has directed the CDOs to initiate efforts to curb economic crimes, ensure road safety, minimize vehicle accidents, enhance office management, leverage information technology for efficient service delivery, and facilitate complaint management and implementation of the right to information.
