Nepal ‘A’ clinches victory against Canada XI in second one-day match

Sandeep and Basir shine with half-centuries



KATHMANDU: In the ongoing one-day series against Canada XI, Nepal ‘A’ secured a convincing victory in the second match, winning by two wickets.

Chasing a target of 241 runs set by Canada XI at the Mulpani Cricket Ground, Nepal reached the goal with 8 wickets down and 49 balls to spare.

Sandeep Jora and Basir Ahmad played crucial roles, both scoring half-centuries.

With this win, the series is tied at 1-1 between Nepal ‘A’ and Canada XI. In the first match, Nepal suffered a defeat, losing by four wickets.

Now, the series winner will be decided in the third and final game.

Captain Sandeep Jora led the charge with a brilliant knock of 66 runs off 74 balls, including 7 boundaries and 1 six.

In the absence of the injured captain Binod Bhandari, Jora took on the responsibility of captaincy and led the team to victory.

Basir Ahmad contributed with a crucial half-century, scoring 52 runs before being bowled out. Opener Arjun Kumal added 40, and Rasid Khan made a notable contribution of 47 runs.

Despite losing two early wickets, Nepal recovered well, with Kumal and Jora forming a partnership of 104 runs.

In the previous match, Canada had posted a total of 240 runs, losing all wickets in their allotted 50 overs.

Shreyas Movva top-scored with 68 runs, while Navneet Dhaliwal and Aaron Johnson contributed 46 and 36 runs, respectively.

On the bowling front, Sahab Alam took 3 wickets, while Sher Malla and Rasid Khan claimed 2 wickets each.

With one more match to go, Nepal ‘A’ and Canada XI will face each other in the final game on Thursday.
