MAHOTTARI: 27 people were injured in a tractor accident in Pipara of Mahottari.

The incident occurred during the Muharram festival of the Muslim community, as a tractor carrying passengers en route to the Pipra Rural Municipality met with an accident.

According to Deputy Superintendent of Police Santulal Jaiswar, spokesperson of the District Police Office Mahottari, the accident took place last evening.

The tractor, transporting 27 individuals from Dhaboli village of Jaleshwar Municipality-6 to attend the Daha Mela (fair) in Pipra Rural Municipality-5, reportedly lost control due to high speed.

Police stated that 26 of the injured are receiving treatment at Jaleshwar Provincial Hospital, while those critically injured have been transferred to Janakpur for further medical attention.

Authorities are searching for the driver, who fled the scene following the accident.
