Arrest of Rabi Lamichhane is a strategy to shield embezzlers from accountability: RSP

The Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) has asserted that the arrest of its Chairman, Rabi Lamichhane, marks the beginning of a process to grant immunity to those involved in the embezzlement of Rs 87 billion in cooperative funds.

Following Lamichhane’s arrest on Friday evening, the RSP released a statement claiming that “by arresting Chairman Lamichhane without reason or basis, the game of providing immunity to the embezzlers of Rs 87 billion—money belonging to the common people invested in cooperatives—has commenced.”

RSP Chairman Rabi Lamichhane arrested

Rabi Lamichhane, the Chairman of the Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP), was arrested by police on Friday evening.

This follows the District Court of Kaski’s earlier issuance of arrest warrants for 14 individuals, including Lamichhane, as part of the ongoing investigation into the Suryadarshan Cooperative fraud case.

The District Police Office in Kaski had requested these warrants from the court on Friday.

I have been unjustly targeted by state: Rabi Lamichhane

Rabi Lamichhane, Chairman of the Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP), has stated that he has not committed any crime following his arrest by police.

After being taken into custody at the party office in Banasthali, Lamichhane addressed journalists and supporters on Friday, claiming he was being unjustly targeted.

“The hope of the campaign has been attacked,” he said, while expressing respect for the judicial process. He emphasized the need for political resistance, declaring, “I have not committed any crime. The state is using all its power against me. I will face it firmly.”

Kaski Court authorizes arrest of Rabi Lamichhane and 13 others

The District Court of Kaski has issued arrest warrants for 14 individuals, including Rabi Lamichhane, the Chairman of the Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP), as part of the ongoing investigation into the Suryadarshan Cooperative fraud case.

On Friday, the District Police Office in Kaski requested these warrants from the court.

The police stated that they had collected substantial evidence, including witness testimonies, supporting the arrests under Section 9(3) of the Civil Code of Criminal Procedure, 2074.

The court approved the arrest of the following individuals: Bishal Tamang, Nabin Achami, Rabeena Rimal, Ashraf Ali Siddiqui, Deepak Lama, Ananta Babu Rai, Ram Bahadur Khanal, Devendra Babu Rai, Bigyan Rai, Omprakash Gurung, Bir Bahadur Ranabhat, Dipa Neupane, and Kalpana Kumari Shrestha, along with Lamichhane.

T20 series: Nepal defeats America by 17 runs

Nepal secured a 17-run victory over America in the first match of the T20 series.

After losing the toss, Nepal batted first at the Grand Prairie ground in Dallas, setting a target of 165 runs.

America managed to score only 147 runs for the loss of 7 wickets in their chase.

Buddhasingh road section blocked for 20 days

The vehicular movement along the Buddhasingh road in Tanahun district was obstructed for 20 days after the landslides at Naldighat area in Vyas Municipality, Tanahun.

The local people have suffered severely after the vehicular obstruction for such a long time.

Several landslips were cleared along the Buddhasingh road but the landslides at Naldighat are yet to be cleared.

Sandeep Lamichhane obtains US visa; to fly this evening

Cricketer Sandeep Lamichhane has obtained a US visa. According to the Cricket Association of Nepal (CAN), Sandeep is scheduled to depart for America this evening.

The three-match T20 series between Nepal and the USA commenced today, with Nepal winning the first game.

Additionally, the World Cup League-2 series, featuring Nepal, the USA, and Scotland, will take place from October 25 to November 4 at Grand Prairie Stadium in Texas. Previously, Sandeep was unable to participate in the T20 World Cup matches in the USA due to visa issues.

Roads to Kulekhani, Sisneri to remain closed for three days

The Kulekhani-Phakhel and Sisneri-Dakshinkali road sections have been closed for three days beginning today.

Shyamu Aryal, the Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) of the District Police Office, Makawanpur, said that both the road sections would be shut for three days to fix hume pipes in Simkhola of Indrasarovar Rural Municipality-2 in Makawanpur district.

The drivers have been urged to travel along the alternative routes for three days.
