Taplejung lawmakers urge Home Minister for rescue and relief efforts



KATHMANDU: Lawmakers from Taplejung district in the Federal Parliament have drawn the attention of Deputy Prime Minister and Home Affairs Minister Rabi Lamichhane to the recent floods and landslides that have caused significant loss of life and property in the district.

So far, five people have died, and numerous physical structures have been damaged due to the disasters.

Members of the House of Representatives, Yogesh Bhattarai, Urmila Thebe, and Lila Devi Bokhim (Limbu), met with the Deputy Prime Minister and Home Minister today.

They informed him that hundreds of people have been displaced from their homes, and the movement of people has been severely hampered.

The disasters have also caused extensive damage to motorable bridges, suspension bridges, wooden bridges, and roadways, obstructing transportation.

In response, Home Minister Lamichhane acknowledged the damage caused by the disasters in Taplejung.

He expressed his commitment to prioritizing rescue, relief, and reconstruction efforts.

He assured that these efforts would be carried out in coordination and cooperation with local, provincial, and federal government offices.
