Parliamentary probe committee focusing on individual not feasible: Ishwor Pokharel

BIRATNAGAR: Ishwor Pokharel, Senior Vice-Chairperson of the CPN UML, has stated that forming a parliamentary probe committee focusing on an individual is not feasible.

Speaking to media personnel at Biratnagar Airport today, he remarked, “A parliamentary committee should be established to address the entire spectrum of problems related to cooperatives, rather than singling out an individual.”

Leader Pokharel clarified that the opposition party’s demand to establish the committee solely targeting the Home Minister was therefore inappropriate.

He argued that strengthening the country’s federalism requires considering the broader political landscape, emphasizing that this political coalition would effectively address the concerns of the populace.

Highlighting that the alliance has been making positive strides towards political stability, the Senior Vice-President expressed the UML’s commitment to the Mission-84 target.

Responding to a query from the media, Pokharel elaborated that amending the constitution could be achieved through consensus-building discussions with all political parties.

He assured that the government would present the budget for the upcoming fiscal year 2024/25 on schedule.
