Chitwan farmers protest by pouring milk on streets

CHITWAN: Expressing their dissatisfaction at not getting proper market for the milk they produced, the farmers in Chitwan have resorted to pouring milk on the streets as part of their ongoing protest.

Kishor Bagale, the president of Chitwan Dairy Cooperative Union, revealed that this protest is in opposition to the discrepancies observed in the sale and payment of milk.

Alongside the act of pouring milk on the roads, farmers have submitted a memorandum to Bhupendra Thapa, the Chief District Officer of Chitwan, addressing their issues and seeking a resolution to their problems.

The farmers have taken to the streets not only to highlight the irregularities in the sale of their produced milk but also to demand timely payments for their hard work, Bagale said.

Chitwan farmers claim that approximately 5200 million rupees is pending in payments since the month of Shrawan(July-August).
