PM Dahal indicates possible lift of TikTok ban upon company compliance

KATHMANDU: Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal has indicated that the ban on TikTok could be lifted if the company adheres to its commitments.

In response to a query from lawmaker Ganesh Parajuli during the parliament meeting, Prime Minister Dahal stated that the government has been engaged in discussions with TikTok representatives regarding the ban’s potential reversal.

“If the company fulfills its commitments, the ban could be lifted,” PM Dahal remarked.

The government had previously imposed a ban on TikTok usage starting from 27th Kartik, 2080 BS.

According to PM Dahal, TikTok has agreed to establish a point of contact, enable government monitoring of the platform, implement a dedicated reporting system, and comply with tax regulations.

“If these commitments are honored, there may be no need to prolong the ban on the platform,” Dahal added.
