Ministry begins discussion on labour migration policy



KATHMANDU: The Ministry of Labour, Employment and Social Security has begun discussion with experts and stakeholders on initial draft of the labour migration policy.

Labour Minister Sharat Singh Bhandari, said that government was for a policy on labour migration in order to make the domestic and foreign employment dignified.

The policy is also essential for promoting and incorporating labour issues in the forthcoming five-year plan and making systematic this sector, he added.

Secretary Kewal Prasad Bhandari informed that the draft would be amended based on the suggestions garnered by the taskforce.

The Ministry is effortful to ensure health and social security as major agenda in the labour migration policy.

The stakeholders and experts furnished suggestions during the program.

The government had formed a taskforce under the coordination of labour expert Dr Ganesh Gurung to draft the labour migration policy.

The taskforce has begun discussion on the draft policy.
