Fog and frost likely in Terai; high hills and Himalayas mostly cloudy

KATHMANDU: Nepal is currently under the influence of a weak westerly system, according to the Department of  Hydrology and Meteorology.

Frost has been observed in the Terai and valley areas, while the weather remains generally cloudy in the high hills and Himalayan regions, including parts of Sudurpaschim and Karnali provinces.

The Department said that fog is likely in some areas of the Terai until noon today. The weather will be mostly cloudy in the high hills and mountainous regions, partly cloudy in other hilly areas, and mostly clear in the plains. There is a possibility of light rain or snowfall at one or two places in the high hills and Himalayan areas of Koshi, Bagmati, Gandaki, and Karnali provinces.

Tonight, cold conditions are expected in parts of the Terai. The weather will remain partly cloudy in the high hills and Himalayan regions, while the rest of the country will experience generally clear conditions. Light rain or snowfall may occur at one or two locations in the high hills and Himalayan areas of Koshi, Gandaki, and Karnali provinces.

As fog is likely to persist in some parts of the Terai until noon and no immediate rainfall is expected, air pollution may continue in the Terai region and the Kathmandu Valley.
