President Paudel observes Indra Jatra festival

KATHMANDU: President Ramchandra Paudel has observed the Indra Jatra festival in Kathmandu on Thursday. On the occasion of the age-old cultural and historic festival, President Paudel walked from the Juddha Salik to the Gaddi Baithak in the Hanumandhoka Durbar Square area to observe the procession. He was welcomed by Sunita Dangol, the Deputy Mayor of Kathmandu Metropolitan City.

During the festival, President Paudel offered prayers to Lord Ganesh, Bhairav and Kumari which were brought there by towing the chariots.

Following this, the chariot procession of Lord Ganesh, Lord Bhairav, and Kumari took place.

Other dignitaries including Vice President Ramsahay Prasad Yadav, Chief Justice Bishwambhar Prasad Shrestha, Speaker Devaraj Ghimire, Chairman of the National Assembly Narayan Prasad Dahal, as well as ministers, lawmakers, provincial assembly members, and representatives from local government bodies, also attended the event.

On this day, Indra, revered as the deity of rain and prosperity, is worshipped with due rituals. The festival features various cultural performances including the Lakhe dance, Dashavatara dance, Mahakali dance, Ramchandra dance, and Pulukisi dance, among others.
