Court grants 8-day detention permit against Dipesh Pun



KATHMANDU: Former Vice President Nanda Bahadur Pun’s son Dipesh Pun, arrested on charges of gold smuggling and cooperative fraud, has been granted permission by the Rupandehi District Court to be detained for 8 days for investigation.

According to Anant Raj Marasini, Information Officer of Rupandehi District Court, the police obtained permission on Sunday to detain Pun for 8 days for organized crime-related charges.

“Pun was arrested on Friday. The police have obtained a remand for 6 more days from today to conduct an investigation,” he said.

Pun is accused of defrauding more than 780 million from the Supreme Cooperative and Savings Cooperative in Rupandehi.

According to Deputy Superintendent of Police Manohar Bhatta of the District Police Office, Rupandehi, Cooperative Chairman Om Prakash Bhatt and employee Durga Chapagai have also been arrested in this case.

Pun was arrested on Friday and brought to Rupandehi from Kathmandu.
