KATHMANDU: Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ has directed the immediate resolution of cooperative-related issues to the concerned ministries and authorities.
According to Prime Minister Dahal’s Secretariat, the directives were issued during a meeting held at the Prime Minister’s official residence in Baluwatar on Wednesday morning.
Highlighting the importance of cooperative institutions, Prime Minister Dahal emphasized their role in fostering socialism, promoting collective interests, and focusing on the welfare of the lower strata.
He stressed the need for both immediate and long-term measures to systematically organize cooperatives.
In addressing cooperative issues, the Prime Minister urged the concerned ministries and authorities to undertake necessary actions promptly and efficiently.
He specifically mentioned the creation of effective regulatory bodies for monitoring cooperatives, urging active cooperation from existing regulatory institutions currently operating in crises or facing challenges.
Furthermore, he directed the classification and submission of reports on cooperatives currently operational, facing crises, or submerged in difficulties.
Prime Minister Dahal also expressed the need for the cooperative sector to focus on securing the savings of depositors and recommended the implementation of effective measures in coordination with the three levels of government.
The cooperative discussions involved the presence of Deputy Prime Minister and Home Minister Narayankaji Shrestha, Minister of Land Management, Cooperatives, and Poverty Alleviation Ranjita Shrestha, Chief Secretary of the Government of Nepal Baikuntha Aryal, along with officials from relevant ministries, departments, and agencies.
