Partial effect of westerly winds brings mixed weather patterns

KATHMANDU: The Weather Forecast Division has reported a partial effect of westerly winds currently impacting Nepal.

According to the Division, hilly areas of the country are experiencing partial to normal rainfall.

Notably, the Lumbini Province and most parts of the Terai region in Madhesh and the Koshi Province have encountered episodes of fog.

This afternoon, the weather is expected to be predominantly clear in the hilly areas of Koshi, Bagmati, Gandaki, Karnali, and Sudurpaschim provinces, while the remaining provinces will witness mostly clear conditions.

There is a likelihood of light rain in some areas of Koshi, Bagmati, Gandaki, Karnali, and the hilly areas of Sudurpaschim Province.

Additionally, there is a possibility of light snowfall in select locations within Koshi, Bagmati, Gandaki, Karnali, and the high hilly and Himalayan regions of the Sudurpaschim Province.

As night falls, the weather is anticipated to remain clear in the hilly areas of Koshi, Gandaki, Karnali, and Sudurpaschim provinces.

In the high hills and Himalayan regions of Koshi, Gandaki, and Karnali, there is a potential for light snowfall at specific locations.

Given the diverse weather conditions, including rain, fog, and snow in different parts of the country, the Division has urged people to take precautions against the cold, emphasizing that such conditions may intensify the winter chill.
