BIRATNAGAR: Nepali Congress (NC) leader Dr. Shekhar Koirala has emphasized that amending the Constitution should be achieved through consensus rather than through the actions of a single political coalition.
Speaking to the media in Morang today, Koirala stated that even though Nepali Congress and CPN-UML hold a two-thirds majority, it is crucial to amend the Constitution with the agreement of all parties involved.
Koirala suggested that instead of resorting to a complex process like a referendum, a more streamlined approach could be the formation of a parliamentary special committee or commission.
He warned that if only the two major parties pursued constitutional amendments unilaterally, it would lead to a more complicated situation.
Additionally, Koirala emphasized that there should be no limits placed on corruption investigations and that the private sector should not be granted jurisdiction under the guise of increasing authority.
