Foreign Minister Dr. Rana leaving for New Delhi next week

KATHMANDU: Foreign Minister Dr. Arzu Rana Deuba is scheduled to travel to New Delhi next week for an official visit.

This trip was originally delayed due to health issues rather than bilateral concerns.

Dr. Rana underwent surgery for hyperparathyroidism on March 2024, at Max Hospital, New Delhi.

She will be flying to New Delhi for a regular health check-up, and during this visit, the Indian side has formalized an invitation for her.

A source close to Foreign Minister Rana mentioned, “She was initially preparing to go to New Delhi for a health check-up. Upon learning of this, the Indian side extended an invitation.”

Due to the nature of her visit primarily focused on health, there are not expected to be many high-level meetings.

Despite the limited schedule, Dr. Rana is set to meet with her Indian counterpart, Foreign Minister S. Jaishankar.

This meeting has been arranged following an invitation from Jaishankar.

The exact date of Dr. Rana’s departure is yet to be confirmed but is anticipated to be on Sunday.
