Simaltal mishap: Bodies of Ganapati Deluxe bus driver and conductor recovered from Gandak Barrage



CHITWAN: The bodies of the driver and conductor of the Ganapati Deluxe bus, which was swept into the Trishuli River by a landslide last Friday on the Narayangadh-Muglin road in Simaltal, have been found.

Their bodies were discovered 103 kilometers downstream at the Gandak Barrage bridge.

According to the Chitwan District Administration Office, the bodies were identified by their families on Tuesday.

The driver has been identified as 35-year-old Kishor Kumar Chaudhary of Parawa Municipality, Ward No. 6, Rautahat, and the conductor as 48-year-old Rishi Kumar Singh of Chapur Municipality, Ward No. 10.

So far, 17 bodies have been recovered, with nine identified and eight yet to be identified.

The status of 45 passengers remains unknown.

The two buses that fell into the Trishuli River five days ago have not yet been located.

The Bagmati Province 03-006 Ka 1516 Angel Deluxe bus, traveling from Birgunj to Kathmandu, and the Bagmati Province 03-011 K 2595 Ganapati Deluxe bus, traveling from Kathmandu to Gaur, were swept away on the morning of July 12.

The police reported that there were 65 passengers on board, three of whom managed to escape.
