KAVREPALANCHOWK: President Ramchandra Paudel highlighted the crucial need for policy reforms in the agriculture sector, citing its potential to uplift communities from poverty.

Inaugurating the ‘Extensive Kavrepalanchok Agriculture Festival-2024’ in Banepa today, he emphasized the importance of policymakers, planners, and the government implementing special programs to boost exports, encourage import substitution, and stimulate production and employment growth.

“I see the necessity for comprehensive policy improvement in the agriculture sector as it has the capacity to lift communities below the poverty line,” reiterated the President.

He underscored that the nation’s priorities post-political change are economic prosperity, development, and peace.

President Paudel asserted that it is essential to enact provisions ensuring ‘Justice to the Underprivileged and Income to the Poor,’ fostering a culture of respecting labor.

He emphasized that an economically prosperous Nepal can be achieved through the development of agriculture, tourism, water resources, and enterprises, aligning with the goals of the federal democratic republic.

The President reminded the audience of the importance of conserving and promoting technologies, practices, and indigenous crops on the verge of disappearance.

He stressed the promotion of agriculture and animal husbandry, emphasizing the transfer of skills, knowledge, and technology to the new generation.

Referring to Kavrepalanchok as a district crucial for agriculture, dairy, and market-oriented agricultural produce, President Paudel expressed belief that the festival will significantly contribute to expanding agricultural enterprises, promoting employment, and generating income.

He also urged the development of more agricultural product markets nationwide, similar to the Kalimati Fruits and Vegetables Market.

During the event, President Paudel presented the ‘President Outstanding Farmer Award’ to six farmers from Kavrepalanchok and Sindhupalchok.

The four-day-long festival is jointly organized by the District Coordination Committee, Banepa Municipality, Agriculture Development Office, Livestock Service Office, and Kavrepalanchok Chamber of Commerce and Industry.
