Party proposals presented to CC bear shadow of coalition: Dr. Shekhar Koirala

KATHMANDU: Shekhar Koirala, a central member of the Nepali Congress, has hinted at the influence of a coalition in the proposals to be presented at the party’s Central Committee meeting.

During the Central Committee meeting held on Friday at the NC central office in Sanepa, Koirala noted that the essence of the proposals is rooted in the necessity of forming a coalition.

He pointed out the visible impact of a coalition in the three proposals discussed.

“When you examine the reports and documents to be presented here, it is apparent that there is an influence of the coalition,” stated Dr. Koirala.

He added, “The proposals to be presented in the Central Committee meeting should align with the party’s fundamental principles, but that doesn’t seem to be the case.”

The policy proposal was prepared by Deputy Prime Minister of the coalition government and NC Vice President Purna Bahadur Khadka.

Addressing the need for a coalition mentioned in the policy proposal, Khadka highlighted the existence of a mixed electoral system and the inability of any single party to secure a majority.

However, the proposal did not criticize the coalition government.

Similarly, General Secretaries Gagan Thapa and Bishwa Prakash Sharma sequentially presented organizational and contemporary political status proposals.
