Prime Minister Dahal directs resolution of BPKIHS problems

KATHMANDU: Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ has instructed the Health Minister and high-ranking officials to intervene and resolve the ongoing conflict at the B.P. Koirala Institute of Health Sciences (BPKIHS), Dharan.

Prime Minister Dahal summoned Health and Population Minister Mohan Bahadur Basnet and Chief Secretary Dr. Baikuntha Aryal, along with other officials, directing them to address the issues raised by teachers, staff, and doctors at BPKIHS.

According to Prime Minister Dahal’s Press Adviser, Govinda Acharya, expressing concern over the sensitive nature of the health sector, Prime Minister Dahal emphasized the need to address the problems affecting services in the field.

He was briefed on the recent conditions of the institution, acknowledging the impact on patients and the general public, urging for a serious and prompt resolution.

Just yesterday, Dharan Mayor Harka Sampang Rai padlocked the office of the acting Vice-Chancellor and demanded the earliest resolution of the conflict, which arose due to the indifference of the BPKIHS authority.
