Udhauli further strengthens national unity: President Paudel

President Ram Chandra Paudel has expressed belief that Udhauli festival will help further strengthen national unity enhancing the mutual harmony, tolerance and fraternity in the diverse Nepali society.

In a message of best wishes on the occasion of Udhauli festival 2081, President Paudel wished for the happiness, peace and prosperity to all Nepalis living home and abroad.

Udhauli is the major festival of Kirant community—mainly of Rai, Limbu, Sunuwar and Yakkha.

UML plans 3 month ward-centric campaign from Jan-Feb

The ruling CPN-UML has announced a three-month ward-centric campaign from Magh to Chaitra to strengthen its grassroots organization.

The decision was made during a two-day national workshop titled ‘Problems of Party’s Work at the Local Level and Solutions’on Sunday, organized by the UML Central Organization Department at the party’s central office in Chyasal, Lalitpur, today.

According to the department’s secretary, Madhav Prasad Dhungel, the workshop resolved to build national power by forming committees at the grassroots level, extending to every neighborhood.
It also planned a simultaneous membership expansion and ‘Mass organization with the public’ campaign.

FNJ elects its first female President

For the first time in its 69-year history, the Federation of Nepali Journalists (FNJ) has elected a female president.

Nirmala Sharma, representing the alliance of Press Chautari and the Nepal Press Union, has won the presidency.

Sharma had also contested the presidency in the previous election but was defeated by Bipul Pokhrel of the Nepal Press Union, who won under a different alliance at the time.

NPL: Kathmandu Gurkhas wins Biratnagar Kings

Kathmandu Gurkhas secured a significant victory against Biratnagar Kings, winning by 1 wicket with 11 balls remaining, keeping their playoff hopes alive.

After winning the toss and opting to field, Kathmandu restricted Biratnagar, who batted first, to just 117 runs, losing all their wickets.

Key contributions for Biratnagar came from Lokesh Bam (8), Deepak Bohara (20), Nicholas (12), Scott (15), Bashir Ahmed (13), Ismat Alam (5), Rajesh Pulami (25), and Chris (1).

Sudurpaschim Royals secures playoff spot by defeating Pokhara Avengers

Sudurpaschim Royals became the third team to qualify for the playoffs in the Nepal Premier League (NPL) cricket tournament after a narrow 5-run victory against Pokhara Avengers on Sunday.

With this win, Sudurpaschim matched Janakpur’s 10 points from six group-stage matches and secured a spot in the playoffs.

Chasing a target of 154 runs set by Sudurpaschim, Pokhara were bowled out for 148 in 19.4 overs.

Petrol price increases, diesel and kerosene prices reduce

The Nepal Oil Corporation has increased the price of petrol while reducing the prices of diesel and kerosene.

According to a decision made by the corporation’s board, the price of petrol has been raised by two rupees per liter, while diesel and kerosene prices have been reduced by two rupees per liter, effective from midnight.

The new prices are NPR 159.50 per liter for first-category petrol, NPR 161 for second-category petrol, and NPR 162 for third-category petrol.

UML must unite to bring positive change in people’s lives: Oli

Prime Minister and CPN-UML Chairman KP Oli has called on the entire party to unite and actively work towards bringing positive change in the lives of the people.

He made this statement while addressing a two-day national workshop titled ‘Problems of Party’s Work at the Local Level and Solutions’, organized by the UML Central Organization Department at the party’s central office in Chyasal, Lalitpur, today.

In his address, PM and Party Chair Oli urged the party’s leaders and workers, as members of an organization founded for the people and the nation, to be actively involved in the national campaign aimed at improving people’s living standards.

CoAS Sigdel returns from India visit

Chief of Army Staff (CoAS) General Ashok Raj Sigdel returned to Nepal on Sunday after being conferred the honorary rank of General of the Indian Army during his four-day visit to India.

President of India, Droupadi Murmu, bestowed the honorary title upon him, continuing the longstanding tradition of mutual respect between the armies of Nepal and India.

During his visit, General Sigdel held separate meetings with India’s Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, National Security Advisor Ajit Doval, Chief of Defence Staff General Anil Chauhan, Army Chief General Manoj Pande, Defence Secretary, and Foreign Secretary.
