Kathmandu Valley experiences increased activity following Dashain celebrations

KATHMANDU: Following the conclusion of the Bijaya Dashami festival, both pedestrian movement and vehicular traffic are steadily increasing in Kathmandu Valley.

Traffic had decreased since October 10, the seventh day of the 10-day Dashain festival, which is a major celebration for Nepalis.

Today, many individuals are seen traveling to visit relatives to receive Dashain tika and jamara from elders.

This has resulted in a noticeable rise in both pedestrian activity and vehicle traffic on the streets, according to Superintendent of Police Nawaraj Adhikari, spokesperson for the District Police Range Kathmandu.

SP Adhikari noted that traffic levels in Kathmandu have surged today compared to recent days.

Deputy Superintendent of Police Bharat Bahadur Bohara, chief of the Kathmandu Valley Traffic Police Office, reported that there were no significant road accidents during the Dashain period.

“This year, we are pleased to report that there were no major traffic incidents in Kathmandu Valley during Dashain, which is a positive development. It’s reassuring that people could enjoy the festivities without any worries,” he stated.

The increase in both the number of vehicles and people is attributed to those who had traveled from Kathmandu to their hometowns for the festival now returning to the capital.
