Dhalkebar-Loharpatti transmission line completed, enhancing power supply in Dhanusha and Mahottari

KATHMANDU: The 132-kV double circuit transmission line from Dhalkebar in Dhanusha to Loharpatti in Mahottari has been completed and is now operational.

This significant infrastructure upgrade is expected to improve the quality of power supply to Dhanusha, Mahottari, and surrounding areas.

According to the Nepal Electricity Authority (NEA), the transmission line and the 132-kV substation at Loharpatti have been constructed at a cost of approximately Rs 1.13 billion, funded by the government and NEA.

The project aims to enhance power supply reliability, manage rising electricity demand, and ensure efficient energy distribution in the region.

The double circuit transmission line spans 23 kilometers, with a total of 91 towers supporting it.

The substation is equipped with two 132/33 kV power transformers of 30 MVA capacity each and one transformer of 22.5 MVA, bringing the total capacity to 82.5 MVA.

The new infrastructure will benefit around 150,000 customers served by the Janakpur, Jaleshwor, Gaushala, and Yadukuwa distribution centers.

Munindra Thakur, Director of NEA Madhes Province Office, stated that the substation’s operation will address issues such as electricity leakage, low voltage, and frequent power tripping.

Previously, power was supplied to the area from Dhalkebar via Mujaliya, Janakpur.

The construction of the project began approximately three years ago.
