KATHMANDU: The Embassy of India in Kathmandu gifted 35 ambulances and 66 school buses to various organizations in Nepal, dedicated to advancing health and education across different districts.
Naveen Srivastava, Ambassador of India to Nepal, officiated the ceremony, where keys to the vehicles were handed over.
The event was attended by Finance Minister Barsha Man Pun, local representatives from various districts, representatives of beneficiary organizations, political figures, officials from the Nepal government, and social workers, as mentioned in the Embassy’s press release.
In a special gesture, two ambulances were directly delivered to the earthquake-affected regions of Jajarkot and West Rukum by an Embassy representative, in the presence of district officials and residents.
The Government of India has maintained a tradition of presenting ambulances and school buses on India’s Independence Day and Republic Day for three decades.
This tradition underscores India’s commitment to bolstering Nepal’s health and education sectors, prioritizing the well-being of Nepali citizens.
Ambassador Srivastava emphasized the enduring nature of this initiative, which is part of the Nepal-India Development Partnership.
He underscored the substantial progress made possible through this partnership, touching lives across Nepal and advancing its development journey.
Finance Minister Pun commended India’s ongoing developmental projects in Nepal, highlighting their role in enhancing people-to-people connectivity and bilateral relations.
He lauded the flagship program as immensely beneficial for the people of Nepal.
Since 1994, the Government of India has donated a total of 1009 ambulances and 300 school buses to Nepal, including those gifted on this occasion.
This continued support reflects India’s commitment to fortifying Nepal’s healthcare and education infrastructure, ensuring easy accessibility to vital services for all Nepali citizens.
