Home Minister in Action: Meets with PM Dahal and IGP Kunwar after reviewing gold smuggling probe report

KATHMANDU: Home Minister Rabi Lamichhane sprang into action today, convening separate meetings with Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal and Inspector General of Police Basanta Bahadur Kunwar following review of the Gold Smuggling Probe Commission’s report.

The Commission, which submitted a comprehensive 485-page report to Minister Lamichhane on Thursday, recommended decisive actions against officials implicated in investigative oversights.

Minister Lamichhane, reaffirming his commitment to accountability, pledged to hold government officials accountable for any lapses uncovered during the gold smuggling investigation.

Sources indicate that Minister Lamichhane dedicated this afternoon to a thorough examination of the report in seclusion within his office.

Subsequently, he met with PM Dahal to provide a detailed briefing on its contents.

Upon his return to Singha Durbar, Minister Lamichhane promptly summoned IGP Kunwar for a confidential discussion.

Reports suggest that Minister Lamichhane instructed IGP Kunwar to initiate disciplinary measures against individuals implicated in the gold smuggling case.
