KATHMANDU: The Election Commission (EC) has announced a cap of Rs 350,000 as the maximum allowable expenditure for candidates participating in the upcoming National Assembly (NA) election.

The EC, through a press statement, clarified that this budget is intended to cover expenses such as the acquisition of voter lists, transportation, fuel, publicity, supplies, seminars, interactions, office operations, and the mobilization of representatives, among other campaign-related costs.

The commission has underscored the importance of transparency and accountability in the election process, urging candidates to establish a dedicated bank account specifically for campaign expenses.

Additionally, candidates are required to appoint a responsible individual to oversee financial matters and provide detailed expenditure reports to the EC. This move is aimed at fostering fairness and ethical conduct in the electoral arena.
