JSP-Nepal withdraws support to PM Dahal-led government

KATHMANDU: The Upendra Yadav-led Janata Samajwadi Party (JSP) Nepal has decided to withdraw its support to the Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal-led government.

JSP-N Spokesperson Manish Suman announced that party Chairman Yadav, who also serves as the deputy prime minister and health minister, has tendered his resignation today and the party will soon withdraw its support.

Suman told Khabarhub, “We have officially exited the central government, and the process of withdrawing our support will commence shortly.”

Earlier today, the Janata Samajwadi Party-Nepal (JSP) quit the government.

Deputy Prime Minister and Health Minister Upendra Yadav sent his resignation letter to the Prime Minister’s official residence in Baluwatar.

Accompanying Yadav, another JSP minister, Deepak Karki, also submitted his resignation, as confirmed by his Secretariat.

In their resignation letters, both ministers cited the current political climate as untenable for their continued cooperation within the government.

The JSP’s split, spearheaded by Ashok Rai and supported by six MPs, has rippled through both central and state governments.

It should be noted that the Maoist Center and CPN-UML also withdrew their support for the JSP Nepal-led government in Madhes Province.

Consequently, efforts to form a new government with four other parties have commenced in response to the unfolding political dynamics.
