Sudurpaschim reports nine new COVID-19 cases in three days
Over the past three days, Sudurpaschim Province has recorded a surge in COVID-19 cases, with a total of nine new infections. According to the Directorate of Health Services, nine individuals who returned home from India tested positive for the coronavirus through antigen testing.
Maoist Center to convene statute convention on Feb 13-15
The ruling CPN-Maoist Center has decided to convene a statute conference of the party on February 13. According to party spokesperson, Agni Sapkota, the party’s standing committee meeting held at Parisdanda on Saturday decided to hold a legislative convention on February 13, 14, and 15. Earlier, the party had formed a seven-member drafting committee under the leadership of Vice Chair Pampha Bhusal to draft the documents for the statute convention.
Chandragiri car mishap update: Death toll reaches five
The death toll in the Chandragiri car mishap has reached five. According to DSP Narayan Adhikari of Thankot Police Circle, four people, including Omkar Nidhi Tiwari, 67, Kalpana Tiwari, 64 of Maitidevi, Kathmandu, and Dr. Mahesh Kumar Gautam and Priyansh Gautam of Lazimpat, lost their lives at the accident site and the injured six-year-old Smarika Gautam died while undergoing treatment in hospital.
EC unveils election symbols for NA election on January 25
The Election Commission (EC) has provided the candidates of the National Assembly (NA) election slated for January 25 with their election symbols. As per EC spokesperson Shaligram Paudel, the symbols were distributed by the election offices in the provinces during the allocated time frame from 10 am to 1 pm today. A formidable total of 51 candidates, representing eight political parties, are vying for victory in the impending election, having officially submitted their nominations on January 8.
Death toll in Dang bus accident rises to 12
The tragic bus accident at Bhalubang in the Rapti Rural Municipality, Dang, has now claimed the lives of 12 individuals. The incident involved a bus (Bhe 1 Ja 3912) en route to Kathmandu from Nepalgunj, which plunged into the Rapti River last night, as reported by SP Ram Bahadur KC, Chief of the Dang Police Office. As of now, eight of the deceased victims have been identified. They are Saurab Bista, 39, from Hetauda; Tarakant Pandey, 65, from Chandragiri Municipality, Kathmandu; Mune, 31, from Uttar Pradesh, India; Man Bahadur Rawat, 40, from Jumla; Ram Bahadur Harijan, 20, from Banke; Dipak Kami, 25, from Rukum; Devendra Raya, 67, from Bihar, India; and Kusum Basnet, 60, from Nepalgunj, Banke.
NEA restores power supply to 23 industries after govt’s directive
In a recent development, the Nepal Electricity Authority (NEA) has decided to reinstate power supply to 23 industries that had been disconnected earlier due to pending dues related to dedicated feeders and trunk lines. The decision to restore electricity supply was taken during a meeting held on Friday, where the government directed to restore power supply to these industries. The government has established a high-level commission to expeditiously address disputes related to dedicated power feeders and trunk lines allocated to industries.
