Vehicular movement resumes at Kamaladi area after replacing of damaged culvert

KATHMANDU: The construction of a culvert over Ichchhumati (Tukucha) rivulet has been completed in Kamaladi, replacing a damaged one.

Vehicular movement at Kamaladi area was disrupted after the flood occurred on August 7 damaged the culvert on the road.

Secretary at the Ministry of Physical Infrastructure and Transport, Keshav Kumar Sharma, today inaugurated the culvert.

Director General of the Department of Roads, Ram Hari Pokharel, said the Department had carried out activities for the reconstruction of the culvert in an expedited manner as Kamaladi is one of the busiest roads in Kathmandu.

Following the occurrence of sinkhole on the road, the Ministry had mobilized technicians and carried out a detailed study about it.

Vehicular movement was prohibited at the area after the disruption of a portion of the Kamaladi road due to the damaged culvert.

The Division Road Office Kathmandu had on September 4 awarded the contract for the construction of the culvert to DB Construction. The contract was worth Rs 4 million and 963 thousand.
