Police seize 10 tons of sugar in Sarlahi

KATHMANDU: Sarlahi police have seized a mini truck carrying 10 tons of sugar valued at Rs. 7 lakh.

The local police team from the Keshargunj Office intercepted the truck, loaded with sugar, in Ishwarpur Municipality-5, Sakhuwani.

Deputy Superintendent of Police Man Prasad Shrestha said that the truck, with the number Bagmati Province 03-001 Ba 1600, was traveling from Bayalwas to Sindhuli when it was taken control due to suspicious activity.

The police discovered 200 bags of 50 kg sugar each in the truck.

The truck driver, Jhalak Limbu, 37, from Taplejung, has been taken into custody and referred to the District Customs Office Malangwa for further action.
